Early Life & Background

Emery Kaison Nguyen grew up in Western Sydney with his parents and older brother. He completed Year 10 at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and later stayed in a youth refuge before transitioning to full independence.

His journey into figure skating began unexpectedly in November 2021, during a casual ice skating outing. Instantly hooked, Emery quickly immersed himself in the sport and began competing just months later. Around this time, he also changed his name from Alan to Emery as part of embracing his identity.
